Golden Globes 2024: what did celebrities wear on the red carpet?

81st year Golden Globes took place last night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, and was hosted by a comedian Jo Koy. The evening, which honors achievements in film and television, kicks off the highly anticipated awards season—and the spectacular fashion that comes with it. Barbie and Succession lead the night with nine nominations each, with Oppenheimer comes in second with eight nods. Other main players of the evening include Flower Moon Killers, Wretches, Past Lives, and Bear. This is the first ceremony since dissolution of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association last year. It will now be presented by the Golden Globe Foundation, which consists of Elridge Industries and Dick Clark Productions.

An unprecedented category

The Golden Globes also made history with the inclusion of an entirely new category: Motion Picture and Box Office Achievement. As the name suggests, this new award recognizes high-grossing films—some of which would not otherwise receive these prestigious accolades. While Barbenheimer was clearly wearing movie theaters throughout the summer, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, John Wick: Chapter 4, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and Super Mario Bros. movie make up the inaugural class of nominees.
