Proud of his 37 – Discover the touching story of the beginning of the year in Tours

A touching story that happened in Tours at the beginning of 2024

Serge Lemaire, a barber at Barber Hunter in Beaugency, Loiret, broke the barriers of the cold to warm the hearts of homeless people in Tours. Inspired by similar initiatives seen on social media, Serge decided to venture out and offer free haircuts to the homeless.

While some prefer to keep their hair long or a hat to protect themselves from the cold, at the tram station the man accepts it with gratitude. And if we don’t always understand each other, the smiles speak for themselves.

The street hairdresser then contacted the association Entraide et Solidarities, which manages the Cherpa residence offering emergency accommodation and integration places. Ten people showed interest. This is the first time that a hairdresser has come to the residence for free to give people a haircut, offering a moment of comfort and a break from the usual routine.

Moreover, the inhabitants value above all this moment of exchange and sharing…

For users, getting their hair done is not just about their physical appearance. It is a way not to feel invisible, to get out of the shadow that often follows life on the street.

Serge Lemaire, a hairdresser with a big heart, hopes that this action will be the start of a larger movement. He shared this idea with his hairdresser friends in Blois who showed interest.

This first experience of street hairdressing was successful, and for Serge it is a source of comfort. It emphasizes the importance of restoring the smile to these people, offering not only a physical transformation, but also an increase in self-confidence for administrative procedures or job hunting. A simple gesture that brought human warmth to the coldness of the street
